This Yin-Yang yoga class is designed to support your transition from Spring to Summer, balancing the rising Wood energy of Spring with the vibrant, expansive Fire energy of Summer. As Chi moves upward and reaches its peak, this shift can manifest as restlessness, upper body tension, or emotional overexcitement. This Yin-Yang yoga practice invites balance, attuning to this seasonal shift by moving with the rising life force, as well as grounding and balancing its intensity.
José combines dynamic Yang movements with long-held Yin poses to open the chest, shoulders, upper back and belly – areas where rising energy often accumulates. Twists, side bends and gentle backbends help to release physical tightness and invite a smooth flow of Chi. You'll use Ujjayi breath to regulate and direct your energy, and foster a sense of calm clarity. As always, José offers variations for each pose, allowing you to honour your own body’s needs and move in a way that feels effective, beneficial and nourishing.
